brazilian cyclist profile: first edition - 2016
Launched in 2016, this research was conceived and coordinated by the NGO Transporte Ativo and executed by LABMOB and the Observatório das Metrópoles. The main objective was to identify the profile of the Brazilian cyclists and their motivations for bicycle use. A total of 5,012 cyclists were interviewed in ten cities in different Brazilian regions: Aracaju, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Niterói, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo. Thus, during the months of July and August 2015, more than 100 researchers went to work field. This was the first Brazilian survey on the profile of urban cyclists with national coverage and that filled a gap where until then there was scarce knowledge about the users and the use of the bicycle as urban transport in Brazil.
