The Laboratory of Sustainable Mobility (LABMOB), associated with the Postgraduate Programme in Urbanism (PROURB) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), is a platform that develops innovative research and design solutions focused on microbilities. LABMOB provides inspiring and fruitful collaboration between academia, the private sector, and civil society.

What we do:

  • we have developed leading research focusing on microbilities;

  • we produce innovative design solutions for cycling and pedestrian infrastructures;

  • structure and foster a national network of researchers on microbilities;

  • we prepare and empower urban researchers, urban planners, planners, and managers to deal with urban mobility issues.

VICTOR ANDRADE

Architect, urban designer and LABMOB coordinator. He holds a Postdoctoral degree in Sustainable Urbanism from the Architecture School of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He currently works as a Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and the Postgraduate Programme in Urbanism (PROURB), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He also worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Aalborg. He performed the largest research project on active transportation in Scandinavia known as “Bikeability” — Résumé

Juciano Martins Rodrigues

He is a visiting professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Postdoctoral degree in Urban and Regional Planning from IPPUR/UFRJ. His work experience focuses on public transportation policy, population studies, and economics. He is also a researcher at the Observatório das Metrópoles and editorial coordinator of the electronic journal of urban and regional studies e-metropolis — Résumé

Marcela kanitz  

She is an architect and urban designer. Holds a Master’s degree in Urbanism from the Postgraduate Programme in Urbanism (PROURB/UFRJ) and held a complementary training in Sustainable Urban Management and Development from the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, in the Netherlands. She performed the pilot application of the Walkability Index (iCam), at Praça Tiradentes, Rio’s Central Area, in partnership with ITDP Brasil — Résumé.

Letícia Quintanilha

She is an architect and urbanist. Holds a Master’s degree in Urbanism from PROURB/UFRJ and an exchange experience in Barcelona at ETSAB – UPC. She worked as a Scientific Initiation Fellow in research related to Bus Rapid Transit Transcarioca at IPPUR-UFRJ. Holds experience in architecture and urbanism, focused on urban design, sustainable mobility, transport policies, and urban planning — Résumé

He is a Public Administrator and holds a graduate (lato sensu) and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from IPPUR/UFRJ. He’s currently a researcher and executive coordinator at LABMOB and a Ph.D. candidate in Urban and Regional Planning. He has got experience in the area of public transport policies, sustainable mobility, segregation, and urban theory. Filipe Marino

He is an architect and urbanist and a Ph.D. candidate in Urbanism at PROURB/UFRJ. He holds a Master’s and a graduate (lato sensu) degree in Urban and Regional Planning, with improvement degree in Aménagement by the Université de Montreal. He has been a substitute professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism/UFRJ between 2015-2017 and currently teaches at the University of Grande Rio (Unigranrio) — Résumé

Guto Santos

He is an architect and urbanist, with a postgraduate degree in Critical Architecture from UPC – Barcelona. He currently holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from FAU/UFRJ. He has already rendered consultancy on architectural projects for the municipality of Paraty (RJ) and worked on large industrial projects, such as the Prosub Program for the Brazilian Navy. He is currently coordinator of the collective Baixo Rio — Résumé

Regina Silva

She is a landscape composer, with a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from PROURB/UFRJ. He has experience in environmental sciences, with an emphasis on sustainability, environmental management, and active transportation. She is also a landscape artist at the Landscaping Company Always, having worked as a Mediaturist at the Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro (MAR) and as a instructor at Senac Niterói, Sesc Niterói, and Sesc São Gonçalo with ecological meditation and landscaping — Résumé
